Tucson Gem Show.

We survived Quartzsite and the desert, and arrived in Tucson last night. Set up camp in our RV spot at Rincon West, and Guy hit the hot tub to soak out all the aches and pains.

To retrace our steps  for a minute, Quartzsite was just like normal these last few years…. dusty, weather was nice (73 degrees) not much wind, lots of sun. Traffic wasn't too bad. Found lots of  deals, some of them quite good. Bought some stuff, sold some stuff.

Dan from Ayla's Originals had carried a tub of African stone and wood carvings for us from Iowa where it was sitting in storage, and we sold it all one night while at dinner with friends in camp. Now we  don't have to carry it around and hope none of it breaks. It was heavy, too! Spent the money earned on new stuff. Now we have to carry that around with us.

Went rockhounding out in the desert, found some flouresent calcedony that we can grind down into cabs. Had fun. Got really dirty. Came back to camp and took a nap.

Walked around Desert Gardens and Pow Wow. Saw a friend (Duck from Eugene, Oregon) selling in front of his RV truck.

Driving into Tucson we saw all the gem show tents being set up. Excitement growing. Our set up for Gem Mall is Thursday and Friday, and opening day is Saturday. Can't wait! Actually, I can. I'm reading a really good book, and poolside /hot tub is really enticing. Who wants to work?

By the way, when we left home in California, gas was $2.79 a gallon. By the time we reached Quartzsite it was $2.26, and along I-10 towards Phoenix/ Gila Bend/Tucson it dropped as low as $1.73 a gallon. Wow! Haven't seen gas this low in years.
